MEMBERSHIP OF ESMA

Membership is by application only, there are five membership categories. Candidates who fail the assessment and vetting process for Professional Membership will be offered a lower level of Professional Membership.

Level One Membership (Specialist)  Annual Subscription £150.

Level 2 Membership (Professional)  Annual Subscription £150.

Level 3 Membership (Professional)  Annual Subscription £150.

Level 4 Membership (Student)         Annual Subscription £50.

Level 5 Membership (Associate)      Annual Subscription £150

Support Associations                        Annual Subscription £0.00

Level 1 Specialist

A LEVEL 1 PROFESSIONAL MEMBER IS ALSO KNOWN A SPECIALIST MEMBER

All candidates will be strictly vetted and assessed as such by the membership committee to maintain the highest of standards as one would expect from a leading professional body.

Assessment material will include (but is not limited to) the candidate’s CV, Qualifications and references, membership of other relevant professional bodies, published works including technical books, papers and other publications relevant to their speciality.  

This level of membership is reserved for specialists in any specific event safety specialism; such as Crowd Safety, Electrics, TDS, Emergency Management, Event Security, Counter Terrorism, Event Management etc…

Plus a considerable amount of real major event experience within event health and safety or crowd management, all candidates will be strictly vetted and assessed by the membership committee to maintain the highest of standards as one would expect from a leading professional body.

ESMA Level 1 (Specialist) Professional Membership Application

dsfLevel 5 Associate

A LEVEL 5 Associate Members will consist of Charities, Companies, Promotors, Event Organisers and Organisations of all kinds who actively promote, support and strictly uphold the Aims and Objectives of the Association and abide by the Associations Code of Conduct. This must be applied throughout the whole company, organisation or charity.

All candidates will be strictly vetted and assessed as such by the membership committee to maintain the highest of standards as one would expect from a leading professional body.

Level 2 Professional

THE QUALIFICATION FOR A LEVEL 2 PROFESSIONAL MEMBER IS A NEBOSH DIPLOMA OR RECOGNISED EQUIVELENT INCLUDING (BUT NOT LIMITED TO)

A: Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Level 4 in Health and Safety in the Workplace

British Safety Council Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health

NCRQ Diploma in Applied Health and Safety

NVQ Level 5 in Health and Safety

OR B:

A FOUNDATION DEGREE IN CROWD SAFETY MANAGEMENT OR RECOGNISED EQUIVELENT

C:

XACT Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety

IFE Level 4 Certificate in Fire Science and Fire Safety

OR RECOGNISED EQUIVELENT

Plus a considerable amount of real experience within event health and safety or crowd management, they must be employed or self-employed in some position within the events industry (but not necessarily within a safety role).

All candidates will be strictly vetted and assessed by the membership committee to maintain the highest of standards as one would expect from a leading professional body.

ESMA Level 2 Professional Membership Application

fxcv Support Association

This is a level reserved for other Professional Associations that support the aims and objectives of ESMA.

Currently the United Kingdom Crowd Management Association, The Safety Advisors Group in Entertainment, The National Rigging Advisory Group, The Professional Lighting and Sound Association, Association of Stage Pyrotechnicians, The University of Derby and Coventry University are Support Associations and Bodies, with several others to be announced soon.

Level 3 Professional

THE QUALIFICATION FOR A LEVEL 3 PROFESSIONAL MEMBER IS A NEBOSH GENERAL CERTIFICATE OR RECOGNISED EQUIVELENT INCLUDING (BUT NOT LIMITED TO) A:

NEBOSH General Certificate

British Safety Council Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health

NVQ Level 3 in Health and Safety

Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Level 3 in Health and Safety in the Workplace

NCRQ Certificate in Applied Health and Safety

Derby University Diploma in Event Safety Management

OR B:

A LEVEL 4 NVQ IN SPECTATOR SAFETY MANAGEMENT OR RECOGNISED EQUIVELENT.

C:

XACT Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety

IFE Level 3 Certificate in Fire Science, Operations, Fire Safety and Management

IFE Level 3 Diploma in Fire Science and Fire Safety

They must also have general experience of the events industry and be employed or self-employed in some position within the events industry (but not necessarily within a safety role).

All candidates will be vetted and assessed. Assessment material will include the candidate’s CV and references.

ESMA Level 3 Professional Membership Application

Level 5 Student

Are studying for a recognised health and safety qualification and gaining practical experience to enable them to become Professional Members of the Association.

They will have access to the “mentoring service” provided by ESMA and will receive ESMA Newsletters etc. as their only benefits.

They will not hold voting rights and will not have use of the ESMA logo.  

Student Membership is available to each member for one year only, after this they need to progress to Professional
